Documents that Cannot be Notarized Include:
** Birth Certificate

Signer’s Acceptable Identification Documents 

Each signer must appear in person. Identification documents must be current or expired within 5 Years. They must bear the signer’s photograph and personal description along with signature, and document identification number:

** A driver license or identification card issued by California DMV 
** A United States Passport
** An inmate ID issued by the CDCR or Sheriff’s Department
** A foreign passport stamped by the U.S. Dept. of Homeland Security
** A driver license or identification card issued by another state
** A driver license issued by an authorized Canadian or Mexican public agency
** A United States military identification card
** An employee ID card issued by a California state, city or county public agency
** Two credible witnesses who personally know the signer. These witnesses must 
     appear in person, they cannot be named in the document and they cannot have a 
     financial interest in the transaction.

Notarization of Incomplete Documents

We cannot notarize a document that would give rise to an incomplete, false, or illegal notarization, including the following circumstances:

1] If the document is incomplete (Government Code section 8205)
2] If the document is dated earlier or later than the date of notarization
3] If the signer cannot be positively identified
4] If the document is not original that is marked with a wet signature
5] If the notarial act is not indicated in the document or by the signer
6] If the signer appears to be confused or mentally incapacitated
7] If the signer requests that the notary certifies the accuracy of a translation
8] If the notary is named in the document or will benefit from the transaction
9] A notary cannot fill out a notarial certificate with false information
10] If the notary thinks that the transaction is illegal
